ATSE design & manage

The Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (also known as ATSE), as part of a 3-year “going public” Communications Plan, wanted to rename itself to “Applied” with a significant rebrand and a new “public-focused website” with new content like podcasts, etc. There is also a separate “member-only” website with member-only content.

Original “Applied” visual brand concept by Truly Deeply Studio (TD). They created the “reporting output” and stationery/office templates (in InDesign, Word, and PowerPoint). Staff found the templates could not be used or had “issues”, were missing details, or did not function correctly. We also found the style guide didn’t work in some digital outputs. Our new web digital agency, Liquorice also had some issues. Working with internal teams, I problem-solved & made significant changes (modifications & fixes), creating new templates for all types of outputs and uses.

The STEM industry magazine “Focus” was rebranded as “Applied”. After Mosaic Studios’ concepts were rejected, I created five new designs, and the semi-transparent shape concept (similar to my REIV magazine work) was selected. I designed the first cover, masthead, and a postage-paid fly sheet template with promo ad space and a change-of-address form.

The Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering is a Learned Academy of independent experts helping Australians understand and use technology to solve complex problems. I led the refresh branding project as the 'in-house' designer when they decided to rename to "Applied".

I also created a new e-news template for Mailchimp, event banners and large printed pull-up banners. Online launch and campaign to support the release of a two-year report into Australia’s future transport needs called Shifting Gears: Preparing for a Transport Revolution.
